Stomohamites simplex (Orbigny 1842)

Genre :

Stomohamites Breistroffer 1940

Stomohamites est maintenant interprété comme le microconque de Hamites (Parkinson, 1811) et se distingue par un col assez développé à l’ouverture et la présence de constrictions. En toute rigueur, on devrait le considérer comme un synonyme plus récent. Il est cependant encore assez souvent usité dans un langage commun. C’est pourquoi je l’applique moi aussi... en toute incohérence avec moi-même.

Albien inf. à Turonien sup.
Dérivent d’Anisoceratidae primitifs par perte de la tuberculation. Enroulement plutôt irrégulier, généralement formé d’une spirale ouverte, plane ou hélicoïdale, suivie par 2 ou 3 hampes parallèles. Section circulaire à comprimée. Côtes annulaires ou interrompues sur la partie dorsale. Pas de tubercule.

?Aptien supérieur à Maastrichtien supérieur.
Ensemble de familles, directement ou indirectement dérivées des Anisoceratidae ou Hamitidae, incluant pratiquement toutes les morphologies connues chez les hétéromorphes. Comprend des genres costulés, tuberculés et lisses. Les sutures quadrilobées contrastent avec les sutures quinquélobées des Ancyloceratoidea. Elles ont généralement des lobes latéraux bifides, mais ils peuvent être trifides chez les genres les plus anciens. La séparation avec les Ancyloceratoidea du Crétacé inférieur est justifiée par une radiation évolutive ayant stabilisé ces nouvelles caractéristiques suturales.
